Steps to Become an Early Childhood Educator
As an early childhood educator, you work with children aged 0 to 5, and your primary role is to create a warm environment that supports their physical, motor, cognitive, language, social-emotional and moral development. You will also work with families to support the child’s healthy and well-rounded development.
Discover the training pathways that allow you to work as an early childhood educator in an educational childcare service.
Get Started
An early childhood qualification confirms that you have all the skills required to work as a qualified educator with children aged 0 to 5 in an educational childcare service. These skills are acquired through an initial early childhood education program leading to a college- or university-level diploma.
Certification may be issued by the Québec Early Childhood Educator Certification Service after assessing your education and professional experience to officially acknowledge your qualifications.
If you obtained your diplomas in Québec or in another Canadian province, you can submit an application to have your qualifications assessed.
